Equipment Operator 2nd Shift

THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION, LOCATED IN WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

Responsible for the safe operation of aluminum processing and material handling equipment in our Rolling Mill or Finishing departments. Responsibility also includes ensuring safety, quality and productivity goals are met while minimizing downtime.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setting up rolling mills or slitters for runs
  • Monitoring runs of aluminum for quality, quantity, and customer specifications
  • In mills: changing rolls and assisting other operators with roll changes and threading
  • Keeping work areas clear of trash, scrap aluminum or other debris.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment including but not limited to forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Assist maintenance team with diagnosis and troubleshooting issues with the mill or slitter
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of production runs and activities through manual and electronic systems.
  • Effectively follow operational job safety analysis (JSAs) on plant equipment; contribute to improvements to procedures and collaborate on new JSAs based on observations and experiences.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of staff, work independently or as a team, and strive to promote a safe and efficient working environment by contributing to and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend written and spoken instruction as well as complete accurate documentation in written or computer formats
  • Capability to complete basic mathematical calculations
  • Capability to accurately read a tape measure and perform conversions to decimals or other forms of measurement.
  • Industrial manufacturing experience, preferred Forklift and overhead crane experience, preferred
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws as well as the employer’s safety policies and procedures.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Physical conditions for positions: Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, grasp, ascend/descend stairs, maneuver within tight spaces, routinely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have visual acuity, excellent mobility, good hearing, manual dexterity, good balance, ability to work a minimum of 8 hours, and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • All tasks performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Working with and near electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding machines, and mobile equipment. Shift work and overtime possible.
