Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer at Chance Aluminum will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems and equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role supports plant reliability and performance through engineering solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and uptime across production and maintenance operations.
Mechanical Engineer Essential Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and optimize mechanical systems and processes for aluminum manufacturing operations.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and recommend engineering-based solutions.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and develop corrective/preventive actions.
Support maintenance and production teams with technical expertise and engineering insights.
Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
Collaborate with vendors to select appropriate equipment and materials for repairs and upgrades.
Develop and maintain equipment specifications, SOPs, and technical documentation.
Assist with planning and execution of capital projects and equipment installations.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to mechanical performance, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
Monitor equipment performance using data analytics and reliability tools.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, and other applicable engineering codes and safety standards.
Train maintenance staff on engineering modifications and new mechanical systems.
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs using CMMS tools.
Mechanical Engineer Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on approach.
Familiarity with maintenance best practices and reliability engineering principles.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Working knowledge of industrial safety and mechanical standards (OSHA, ANSI, ASME).
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Experience in the aluminum, metals, or heavy industrial sector.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
OSHA 30 certification.
